What is a symmetrical letter?
The T, U, and V are all symmetrical, however they only have one line of symmetry between them. There are no two lines of symmetry in any of these letters. Consider the last letters of the alphabet! They are J for Jack and Q for Queen. Nothing can be paired like these letters - there is no way to change one Q into a J or vice versa. These letters are asymmetrical.
As you can see, the T, U, and V are all symmetrical. This means that if you were to flip or rotate the letter inside a word, it would still retain its same meaning. For example, if I said the word “table” and then rotated it 90 degrees, it would still mean table. There is only one table even though it’s upside down!
Similarly, if I said the word “volcano” and then flipped it over, there would still be a volcano even though it’s now upside down. The meaning of the word remains the same even though it’s been turned inside out.
