<harb20> i’m having trouble connecting to the server with my web server, it was working fine a few days ago. I’m not getting any network error or something when it connects to the server, but it’s saying there is no internet connection and nothing’s working

<harb20> i’ve tried switching to a different server and it’s the same thing, it’s getting to the server just fine, it’s just saying there is no internet connection
<harb20> i’ve tried looking in the log files and everything seems to be fine, i don’t see any errors or anything that could be a network error
<harb20> when i’m trying to connect with other computers on my network everything works fine
<sarnold> Harb20: the message “there is no internet connection” seems more like a DNS error than a network error; is the DNS server still running? is the DNS resolution working for the rest of the system?
<harb20> yeah, it’s working fine for everything else, the only computer that’s not working is my server
<sarnold> I’d go hunting through the firewall rules on the server and see if anything jumps out
<harb20> alright, i’ll check
<harb20> the firewall is pretty minimal, i only have it to make sure that my web server can’t be hacked or anything
<sarnold> Harb20: if it is minimal it is probably not worth the trouble :)
<harb20> yeah, that’s why i’m trying to work out where to look
<harb20> i was reading through the network connection settings but it doesn’t say anything about whether it should be using dhcp
